For each line links are given to the relevant entry in dbcn and also that in the Opening Explorer database (here denoted as ccoe). Data on these pages are lagging behind the dbcn source. Please note that the dbcn scores vary over time as the database evolves. : Ratio of popularity after the final move to popularity of the position before the final move. : Popularity of the position in occurences per million games (expressed as 1/M) in the database underlying these pages. : Value in centipawns of the final move of the opening line, relative to the best available move, according to dbcn. : Evaluation of the position according to dbcn and expressed in centipawns (cp), from the perspective of the side to move. In most places on sub-pages of this main page an opening line carries an annotation of the form (cp, cp /M, %). The collection was assembled by Bas Braams with motivation from the Top Chess Engine Competition (TCEC).
Bias was obtained from the evaluated openings Chess Cloud Database (also known as dbcn). Popularity in human master play was estimated using total entries in three databases: ChessBase Big Database, Caissabase and ICCF Opening Master Database.
These pages provide a collection of chess opening lines selected using two competing criteria: the opening line must be seen in human Master play and the expected outcome must be biased towards one side.
